Scientific evidence

In August 2006, on the occasion of the organization of a seminar at UC Berkeley with students from four universities in Madrid I held a meeting with one of the vice chancellors of the UCB who told me about a new paradigm: research universities. From that moment I began to inquire and worry about the origin that has been explained above. An affirmation can be made on this subject and that is that the concept of a research university was born a few months after the world rankings, the three rankings, broke into the world. First in chronological order of appearance were:

Later years other rankings appeared as QS ... in the number of three of this portal (ranking and good governance) this topic is analyzed. Here we only warn that the publications that are referenced below, for the most part show those relationships from very varied angles.

A) Global context contextual evidence

These three books group a multitude of references of scholars of the subject:

Very interesting as shown in the link to the index because it bases the assumption of the concept "anchored in many countries" that the university system is one more step of the educational system and only that. It is a “realism bath” and three chapters are advised: - Introduction: the university, a complex institution - The economic role and impact of university research - Measuring universitie's performances: an international comparison

B) Proposal evidence

Below are some publications applied to university realities that are constituting a body of doctrine that was born in a research group of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), the result of careful observation and contact with the university reality so varied and that It evolves over time.

A first approach was University reflection notebook: ISBN 978 9478 10 193 3 Quito, Ecuador November 2014 Link Download
This publication is the result of a five-year research on research universities and is published and applied to the Peruvian university licensing system, validating the proposal shown in this portal from several angles. Research universities are not an unattainable elite for the vast majority of universities in the world (some 27,000) but a goal to achieve their improvement. Hence the importance of the objective rankings that tell us how we are improving. When we consult the section on rankings and good governance, this justified relationship will be found. Download Link
