Our University is our 'House of Studies' for using a classic term. It is the place where I formed many years ago. Key element was the doctoral thesis in 1984 (http://oa.upm.es/5410/) because belonging to the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineers, I was fortunate to enter in 1981 to be part of a team of our sister School Montes with Dr. Ángel Ramos who set up an interdisciplinary team to undertake a very ambitious environmental planning project and ended in 1984.
That training with a teacher decisively influenced me and illuminated my subsequent steps. That is why now when we present this PORTAL we are aware of that heritage and, in the same way that it was done in 1981, an interdisciplinary team has been formed to start a new journey; We are 11 doctors and a Master by UPM from five countries trained in the doctoral program (www.desarrollorural.us) within the Gesplan research group (www.upm.es/observatorio/vi/index.jsp?pageac=grupo.jsp&idGrupo = 185) but with a very ambitious purpose that exceeds the objective of a research group.
